What is the CAT Program?

  • CAT stand for “Community Access to Technology.”  The CAT Program provides access to computers for members of our community who have not had access to technology.  We operate three (3) public CAT Computer Labs in different areas of the Salt Lake Valley in order to teach classes in fundamental computer skills.   Our class descriptions are available on this website or by calling the CAT Lab telephone numbers below.

Where are the CAT Computer Labs?

  • Our labs are located in downtown Salt Lake,  Midvale, and West Valley City:

Central City CAT Lab    615 South 300 East Salt Lake City   455-4798
Midvale Boys and Girls Club    7631 South Chapel Street (425 West) Midvale   455-5707
Redwood CAT Lab    3060 South Lester (3100 S Redwood)  West Valley City  718-1048

Can anyone use the CAT Labs?

  • Yes.  You are always welcome at our CAT Computer Labs.

Is there a cost for CAT Computer Lab services?

  • No.  All classes and computer lab services are free to the public.  We are publicly funded.  Our purpose is to provide a learning environment for community members.

What services are available at the CAT Labs?

  • We teach classes in:

    • Computer Basics
    • Windows
    • major Microsoft Applications:
       Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Publisher.
    • Specialized classes like Online Job Search, Resumes, Email, etc. are also offered.
    •  “Open Lab” hours - do homework, apply for jobs, search the Internet, etc.  We use “K-12” filtering for the Internet at our CAT Labs.  This means that our lab is family-friendly, and safe for children.
    • Adult content is not available at our labs.

How can I find out more?

  • Please call the individual CAT Labs for hours of operation and information about classes.  We would be happy to answer any questions you may have.
