Welcome to Community Access to Technology --- the 'CAT' Program --- providing Salt Lake County residents with Access to Computers, Literacy, Financial Literacy, Internet/Email, Fundamental Computer Skills, ESL, GED, and other educational training opportunities at satellite computer labs in Community Centers across the county.

Thanks to partnerships between Salt Lake County and the community-at-large, (including non-profits, municipal and local government agencies, businesses, and volunteers) CAT Computer Labs, with up to 20 state-of-the-art computers per site, provide the following services:

  • Free Internet Access (i.e., e-mail, homework help, research, essays, journals, resume preparation, and internet job search)
  • Computer Classes (i.e., internet, email, word processing, job search, spreadsheets, design, computer basics, and 'build-a-computer')
  • Individual Computer Instruction (i.e., keyboarding, software applications, and employment skills)
  • Skill Practice (i.e., mouse exercises, timed typing tests, self-paced software exercises, and job-required certification preparation)
  • Community Partnership Programs (i.e., VITA Free Tax Preparation Program, CAT Kid's Literacy Project, and GED Prep Classes)

Join Mayor Peter Corroon and Mayor JoAnn Seghini in the opening of this great collaborative effort – a CAT Lab at Midvale Boys and Girls Club

Computer classes (Word, Excel, Powerpoint,etc.) for all ages available right here at Midvale Boys and Girls Club – Check calendar for class times.

 

VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) the free tax preparation program for qualifying individuals, is supported by volunteers at several locations. Tuesday and Thursday, January 29th-April 15th. Please call 211 for more information or to schedule an appointment.

CAT Kid's Literacy Project, free for children ages 5-12, is available at Redwood, Central City, and Midvale Boys and Girls CAT Labs.
